GENERAL INFORMATION
History:
ALKU Department of Architecture started its undergraduate education in the 2019-2020 academic year.
Aim:
The ALKU Department of Architecture aims to raise professionals who are socially aware and ethically responsible, respectful to historical and cultural values and people, and preferred at the national and international level, by bringing the requirements of the contemporary architectural profession to the educational environment.
Undergraduate Program:
The undergraduate program of the ALKU Department of Architecture is 4 academic years or 8 terms/semesters. The language of education is Turkish. A holistic approach that prioritizes collaboration between different disciplines has been adopted in the undergraduate program curriculum. As of the first year, courses on introduction to architecture, basic design, architectural expression techniques, and research methods in architecture are given. Architecture courses continue with increasing intensity starting from the second year. While it is aimed to provide students with both theoretical and practical dominance in the profession with compulsory field courses, it is aimed to expand their professional vision with field electives. In addition, the non-field elective courses of the undergraduate program aim to enable our students to develop and continue their activities in different subjects that they are interested in. Students who complete the four-year undergraduate program of the ALKU Department of Architecture are entitled to receive a Bachelor of Architecture (B.Arch.) and the title of Architect.
